This is why we travel! To experience different realities that we never imagined existed.
To make a long story short, a dear friend of ours brother from England, Doctor Fish AKA Alex now lives in Kho Samui, a small island we're visiting off the coast of Thailand. For the past two years he and his partner Lola, a master Bikram yoga teacher from Brussels, have been developing a new business here.
You'd never guess what...fish that eat the dead skin off people! Yes, you read right, so of course we had to try it.
Here we are in this pristine room with soft music, delicious tea, and our feet dangling in warm water while 4,000 small fish nibble all the dry skin off our feet and legs for 30 minutes!
It sorta tickles and tingles and once I relaxed and was assured they really aren't piranhas it's kinda fun. It's becoming the big rage here and the results are amazing, my skin never felt so soft! They also offer full body "treatments" but I just wasn't ready to let those little guys feast on my body! If you want to know more about this hot new trend, check out their website:www.drfishthailand.com.
Of course we all know the best memories while traveling are usually about the people we meet.
After a stimulating exfoliation, we joined Alex and Lola at their favorite outdoor cafe (street food)! Alex reminds me totally of Robin Williams, and Lola has the most flexible body I've ever seen (I rode on the back of her motorbike to the cafe. The lovely woman on the right owns the cafe.
Now, if you're wondering what does a girl wear to a fish eating party:
Here's my latest pick!
I bought these same design necklaces last year when I was here. The woman who sold them from a blanket in the market was still there and greeted me with a warm remembering smile. She hand makes everyone, each unique and all with gemstones.I've sold out of them three times at the amazing price of $65! They will be in the shop this week!
I'll be home in 5 days, I can hardly believe the adventure is almost over!
